Events, General Information

The purpose of LinuxChix is to support Women in Computing.  At our meetings, women's needs, questions, and interests get top priority.  Anyone who is comfortable with that is welcome to attend.

Our meetings tend to be very different from usual LUG (Linux User Group) meetings.  For one thing, the number of people who attend tends to be small.  This gives us more time to be personally expressive and allows for more hands-on Linux work at the meeting.  Our speakers or workshop leaders are generally not experts (although there have been some wonderful exceptions), and attendees who have familiarity with whatever technology we are exploring are encouraged to talk about their own experiences.

At the moment, the meetings are being held at the home of Meryll Larkin.  In the past, they have been held at North Seattle Community College (and another member's home a long time ago, and at Speakeasy, also a long time ago).
